Thyroid dizziness:

Hypothyroidism as a hidden cause of hair loss - even with "perfect" blood test results

From hair loss to full hair in just 5 months: How I finally got full and healthy hair again after 5 years of despair.

Sarah Whitmore | Thyroid Expert Written on April 24, 2025

The hairbrush was full of hair again โ€“ as it is every morning.

The same scene in the shower: clumps of hair in the strainer.

And every time I looked in the mirror, I knew it was getting worse.

At some point, I no longer recognised myself.

Not just because my hair became thinner, drier, and weaker.

But because I had lost myself.

I was tired, irritable, and unable to concentrate.

I slept for eight hours โ€“ and felt like I had run a marathon the night before.

My doctor always said, "Your blood test results are good. That's normal at your age."

But deep down I knew: Something wasn't right.

I felt like a foreign body in my own life.

And nobody took me seriously.

Hello, I'm Sarah and my hair loss started about 5 years ago.

It started very gradually.

A few more hairs in the brush than usual.

Nothing to worry about, I thought at the time.

We all lose hair. That's normal.

With each passing month, more hair got stuck in my brush.

I had to clean the shower screen daily.

My ponytail, formerly thick and full, suddenly felt thin and weak.

One evening I took out an old photo album.

There I was, ten years ago, with thick, shiny hair.

I held the photo next to my reflection and had to cry.

How could it be that I had lost so much hair?

I started trying everything I could to get my old hair back:

Expensive shampoos with caffeine and biotin.

Hair supplements that cost a fortune.

Even an expensive scalp serum from a friend who had recommended it to me.

Nothing worked.

The hair loss got worse.

And with it, my exhaustion, my concentration problems, my dry skin.

It was only when I started to learn more about it that I discovered the real reason for my hair loss: my thyroid gland.

I had been diagnosed with hypothyroidism for 9 years.

I dutifully took my L-thyroxine every morning.

And my doctor assured me at every check-up: "Your blood values are perfectly regulated."

How could it be that I still suffered so much?

That I lost my hair even though my test results were "perfect"?

What I didn't know back then: The hair loss, the fatigue, the irritability, the concentration problems โ€“ they all had the same cause.

And this cause was not my age, not my genes, not bad shampoos.

It lay in an overlooked mechanism of my body.

A vital process that must take place in order for my thyroid hormones to be effective at all.

Looking back and with today's knowledge, all my symptoms made sense.

Within a few months, I had not only stopped my hair loss.

I actually started to grow new hair.

Baby hairs finally covering my scalp again.

My existing hair became stronger, shinier, more vibrant.

But that wasn't all.

The energy returned.

The concentration.

The joy.

I was myself again.

When I shared my new path with some friends who had also been struggling with thyroid problems for years, I experienced something amazing:

They reported the same changes: more energy, less hair loss, and a new lease on life.

That's when I realised: I'm not alone with this problem. Thousands of people suffer in silence, unaware that a solution exists.

That's why I wanted to share my story โ€“ because I want to help you too.

It cannot be that anyone is still sitting in the corner today, not knowing what to do next and suffering in silence.

In this experience report you will learn:

๐Ÿฆ‹Why your thyroid isn't properly regulated despite L-thyroxine and good blood test results โ€“ and how this leads to hair loss

๐Ÿฆ‹Why shampoos don't help

๐Ÿฆ‹Which organ is often overlooked in the treatment of thyroid (and hair loss)

๐Ÿฆ‹How you can optimally nourish your body, thereby even reducing your thyroxine dose, making you feel better and allowing your hair to become fuller and healthier again.

I will explain to you exactly where the problem really lies and what the true cause is of your hair loss and why your thyroid medication isn't working for you.

I will show you my method, which I used to get not only my hair loss, but almost all of my symptoms under control.

The method works for hypothyroidism, Hashimoto's disease, and even if you no longer have a thyroid gland!

This article is the result of years of research and treatment of my own illness.

In some places, I have referred to scientific studies using footnotes (indicated in parentheses). These are linked at the very end of the article and can be read by anyone.

Understand your blood test results โ€“ before they continue to mislead you.

I was sitting in the doctor's office again.

Tired, exhausted, with hair loss, dry skin and completely overwhelmed.

Once again, blood was drawn from me โ€“ as countless times before.

The following were tested:

โ€“ the TSH level

โ€“ the fT4 level

Sounds medical? It is โ€“ but I'll explain now what you absolutely need to know about it.

What exactly is the TSH value?

The TSH level determines how many thyroid hormones the body should produce.

The higher the TSH level, the more thyroid hormones the body is lacking.

Almost all doctors test the TSH level.

What is the fT4 value?

The fT4 value (free thyroxine) measures the amount of T4 in your blood โ€“ the inactive thyroid hormone.

That's exactly the hormone you get as medication (e.g., L-thyroxine).

The blood test my GP carried out

My doctor correctly identified that my TSH level was elevated.

My fT4 was too low for that.

Of course, I didn't know the values at that time.

But my doctor knew, that was important.

It was stated: "The higher the TSH level, the fewer thyroid hormones are present."

My TSH level was 3.1!

As a result, I received a diagnosis of hypothyroidism directly from my GP.

After the diagnosis, I was initially relieved.

I was no longer completely in the dark.

At least I had an explanation for my hair loss.

My doctor gave me hope that we can fix this.

After all, I'm not an isolated case.

Once the medication is properly adjusted, everything should be back to normal and the symptoms should disappear.

That brings us to the topic of "correctly adjusting" the medication.

If you also suffer from an underactive thyroid, you'll probably recognise this:

Your doctor prescribes L-thyroxine โ€“ the classic medication for thyroid problems.

My doctor prescribed me 25 micrograms of L-thyroxine to start with.

L-thyroxine, a synthetically produced thyroid hormone, is one of the most frequently prescribed medications in Australia after painkillers.

"Now you are properly adjusted again, your thyroid should function as usual."

Full of hope, I went to the chemist, got the thyroid medication, and took it for a while.

Nothing really happened, except that I swallowed the pills as part of my morning routine.

One month later, the doctor increased the dose from 25 to 50 micrograms.

I went to the doctor again and was told:

"Hello Mrs. Whitmore, your blood test results have improved significantly."

Yes, my blood test results were great.

And I actually did feel better.

However, only for a few months.

The hair loss is getting worse.

Five months after my diagnosis, my husband asked me:

"What good are your 'great blood test results' if your hair loss doesn't improve?"

He was right.

Since increasing my dose and taking the medication regularly, not only my hair loss but also other symptoms have gotten progressively worse.

I had gained 5kg in the meantime โ€“ without having changed anything about my diet.

And the constant fatigue?

It persisted stubbornly, just like my hair loss.

So I set out to find other solutions.

Over $600 spent fighting hair loss โ€“ and nothing helped.

I stare at the collection of bottles on my bathroom cabinet.

It looks like a small chemist's worth of dashed hopes.

  • Caffeine shampoo for $32.95.

  • Biotin complex for $49.90.

  • Revitalising scalp serum for $79.90.

A total of over $160 โ€“ this month alone.

I had spent so much money, hoped so much, and been disappointed so often.

And yet I hadn't made any progress.

The same brush every morning.

The same pain.

If you're reading this and have just noticed the first hairs in your comb โ€“ please don't wait as long as I did.

Because at some point, you won't be able to hide it anymore.

For me, it was the most beautiful day in my daughter's life.

This is what my drain used to look like. Iโ€™m sure you know it.

My daughterโ€™s wedding โ€“ the day I had dreaded for months

My daughter's wedding โ€“ the day I had been dreading for months.

She beamed in her white dress.

The family was looking forward to commemorative photos that would last a lifetime.

I tried not to think about how the sun would shine through my thin hair.

How the camera would capture every single bald spot.

How in years' time I would only see my thinning hair in these pictures, instead of the joy in my eyes.

My hairdresser had tried her best.

Using volumising spray and skilful blow-drying technique.

But you can't perform magic where there is nothing left.

After the ceremony, between champagne and congratulations, I felt a hand on my shoulder.

Fiona, an old uni friend.

We hadn't seen each other in years.

She gently pulled me aside, glanced at my hair, and told me she had also been struggling with hers.

"Are you having trouble with your thyroid?" she asked quietly.

I froze.

How could she know?

She recommended a doctor who had helped her with her hair loss.

"He understood what everyone else had missed," she said.

Her words stayed with me โ€“ long after the wedding guests had gone.

Her own hair had been full and glossy.

I knew: This is my last hope.

The next morning I held the small piece of paper Fiona had given me.

I rang the clinic of Dr. Mitchell โ€“ and got an appointment a week later.

Hair loss: a cry for help from your thyroid

From the very first conversation, something was different.

He listened to me and didn't interrupt.

And when I told him about my hair loss and my increasingly thinning scalp, he nodded slowly โ€“ and then said something I will never forget:

"Mrs. Whitmore, your hair loss is no coincidence. It is a cry for help from your thyroid."

He explained to me that up to 80% of women with an underactive thyroid suffer from hair loss โ€“ even if they have been dutifully taking their L-thyroxine for years.

Because hair follicles are particularly sensitive when it comes to receiving thyroid hormones.

If they aren't adequately supplied, they wither, become progressively weaker, and eventually only produce thin, brittle hairs that fall out prematurely.

Dr. Mitchell explained to me how thyroid hormones really work, what TSH, T4, and T3 actually are, and much more.

I'll try to summarise it as best I can for you.

The difference between T4 and T3

There are two different thyroid hormones that matter: T4 and T3 (sometimes also called fT4 and fT3).

Our thyroid gland produces approximately 80% of the hormone T4 and 20% of the hormone T3.

With an underactive thyroid, the thyroid gland doesn't produce sufficient T4 and T3.

As a result, you are prescribed tablets such as L-thyroxine.

These tablets are meant to replace the missing hormones.

Dr. Mitchell isn't particularly fond of this approach.

He explained: giving L-thyroxine alone doesn't get to the root of the problem, because it only provides T4.

T4 is the inactive thyroid hormone.

It is merely a storage form that is not active within the body.

T3, on the other hand, is the active thyroid hormone that supplies every one of our organs with energy.

T4 must be converted, or activated, into T3 within the body.

Only when the conversion of T4 to T3 is functioning properly can energy production in the cells work properly.

Then we are brimming with energy, no longer exhausted, and โ€“ drumroll โ€“ have full, thick hair again.

The connection between hair loss and an underactive thyroid is explained in detail in this study

How your thyroid influences your hair growth

The active thyroid hormone T3 is one of the most important hormones in the body.

The reason: it supplies every cell in the body with energy.

When we have enough T3, we don't feel cold, our metabolism runs faster, we have more energy, and both the gut and the scalp receive better blood flow.

In short: the thyroid hormone T3 governs how quickly all manner of metabolic processes run throughout the body. This includes hair growth.

Normally, every hair goes through three phases:

Growth phase, transition phase, and resting phase.

Without enough T3, hair stays in the resting phase far too long โ€“ which means:

It falls out, but doesn't grow back.

The same applies to nails: people with an underactive thyroid often have very brittle nails that grow only slowly.

Vertical ridges in the fingernails are also a frequently overlooked symptom of an underactive thyroid.

Both nail and hair growth are closely connected to the protein keratin.

Keratin is the primary building block of our hair and nails.

And for the production of keratin, the body needs energy โ€“ that is, T3.

Without T3, keratin cannot be produced.

The hair becomes thinner, breaks more easily, and barely grows back.

The nails become more brittle, and susceptibility to nail fungus increases.

The natural hair cycle also becomes disrupted.

After all of Dr. Mitchell's explanations, I finally understood why all those shampoos, vitamins, and ampoules had achieved nothing.

As long as my body isn't producing active T3, my hair simply has no chance.

Why thyroid medications aren't working

So now I knew: T3 is the important thyroid hormone.

That's right โ€“ T3, the very value my GP hadn't even measured at first!

Dr. Mitchell explained to me: "You have only been taking T4 as medication so far. The body must also convert the T4 into T3 in order for symptoms such as hair loss to stop."

Thyroid activation consists of three simple steps:

  1. Production of thyroid hormones (T4).

  2. Conversion of T4 to the active form T3.

  3. Transport of T3 to the cells.

Most doctors only address Step 1, by prescribing synthetic hormones such as L-thyroxine.

This does result in blood values looking good again (doctors then think they've done their job), especially the TSH and T4 values.

But the symptoms often don't go away.

Your doctor then tells you that you are "well-managed," because T4 and TSH values now look fine.

But if, despite taking thyroid medication, you are still constantly tired, experiencing hair loss, concentration difficulties, cold hands, or gut problems, and your metabolism is running so low that you gain weight just looking at a piece of cake โ€“ then in most cases, this comes down to one thing:

The conversion disorder.

When Dr. Mitchell explained all of this to me, I felt properly looked after and, above all, properly informed for the first time in 15 years.

Slowly the puzzle was coming together, and Dr. Mitchell showed me that my hair loss could only have come from the fact that the inactive T4 in the tablets couldn't be converted into the active T3.

I was suffering from a conversion disorder.

The thyroid dizziness

What goes wrong with traditional treatment:

โŒ Too many doctors look only at TSH and T4, and completely ignore T3.

โŒ Treatment is based on blood values, not symptoms. If TSH and T4 look normal, the GP insists everything is fine.

โŒ They stubbornly continue prescribing synthetic T4 and keep increasing the dose even though symptoms persist.

The connection between the thyroid and the liver

After Dr. Mitchell diagnosed me with a conversion disorder, he explained the critically important role of the liver.

Up to 80% of thyroid hormones are converted inside the liver.

Has a doctor ever explained to you that the thyroid and liver are deeply connected?

Step one: the inactive T4 is taken up by the liver cells.

Inside these cells are the enzymes (deiodinases) responsible for the conversion.

These enzymes remove one iodine atom from the outer ring of the T4 molecule.

This transforms T4 into T3 (the active thyroid hormone).

You can imagine it like this:

The T4 cannot be converted in the liver

Normally, the enzymes have an easy time in the liver cells removing the iodine atom from T4.

However, in many people who suffer from a conversion disorder, the function of deiodinases is impaired.

Only a small portion of the T4 ingested via tablets can be converted into T3 by the liver.

As a result, you need an increasingly higher dose of medication.

Imagine it like a sink where the drain gets increasingly clogged.

The solution cannot be to let even more water run into the sink.

The solution must be to clean the drain so that the water can flow again.

According to Dr. Mitchell, there are two problems that need to be solved.

Problem #1: The overloaded liver

Liver cells are not only responsible for the conversion of T4 to T3.

That would mean assigning far too little value to the liver.

The liver is the organ primarily responsible for the elimination of toxins.

Toxins include, among other things, exhaust fumes, smoke, plasticisers, electrosmog, pesticides, or heavy metal contamination.

But years of taking medication and an unhealthy diet also damage the liver.

And just as we humans decide daily what is most important, the liver also prioritises its tasks.

According to the latest estimates, as many as one in four Australians suffers from non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.

Cholesterol levels are also very often elevated.

And yes, even years of taking L-thyroxine medication don't make life any easier for the liver.

Medications weaken the liver, and a tired liver makes a tired person.

It feels like a vicious cycle.

We take a medication in the hope that it will make us feel better, while at the same time accepting the side effects that weaken our organs.

Crazy, isn't it, when you think about it?

Can you imagine what condition my liver would be in if I continued to dutifully take my L-thyroxine tablets for the next 20 years?

Yes, hormones have their place in the treatment of hypothyroidism.

And it makes no sense to stop taking them completely from one day to the next.

However, taking these hormones for a lifetime should never be the only strategy.

It is essential to get the body back to producing, converting, and transporting hormones to the cells on its own.

If you fail to do that, you will remain trapped in the thyroxine trap forever.

In addition to the overloaded liver, there is a second problem that is almost always ignored.

Problem #2: Lack of nutrients for conversion

We now know that the conversion of thyroid hormones takes place to a very large extent in the liver.

The conversion process is called 5โ€ฒ-deiodinase.

Deiodinases are enzymes that cleave an iodine atom from T4, thereby converting T4 into T3.

These enzymes require several nutrients, including zinc and iron, to function.

However, the most important nutrient is the trace element selenium, which is directly incorporated into the structure of the enzymes.

Without sufficient selenium, the conversion of thyroid hormones does not work: (1)

Study shows: Selenium deficiency can cause conversion disorders

This study shows that if there is a selenium deficiency, then patients have very high T4 levels, but very low T3 levels โ€“ i.e., a conversion disorder.

And now comes the really big problem: Australian soils are now selenium-deficient areas!

This means that our local foods no longer contain enough selenium because they are grown on selenium-deficient soils.

It is estimated that a significant proportion of the Australian population consumes too little selenium, with a median intake of only 40ยตg per day.

It is therefore absolutely necessary to support your selenium levels โ€“ either through a targeted diet or by taking selenium as a dietary supplement.

Summary so far

โœ… Your body needs the active thyroid hormone T3 โ€” only then symptoms like hair loss, fatigue or weight gain improve.

โœ… Thyroid medication like Levothyroxine provides only inactive T4.

โœ… The conversion from T4 into T3 happens mainly in the liver.

โœ… If symptoms persist despite medication, it is very likely a conversion disorder.

โœ… Increasing the medication dose is NOT the solution.

How to treat a conversion disorder

If thyroid medication doesnโ€™t work for you, you most likely have a conversion disorder.

This is the case for nearly 80% of people with an underactive thyroid.

The good news: once you resolve the disorder, you can feel dramatically better within weeks.

Because your body will finally be able to convert the T4 youโ€™re taking.

Then the active thyroid hormones reach your cells again.

Your hair becomes thicker, your energy increases, your mood lifts.

And your metabolism speeds up, making it easier to reach and maintain a healthy weight.

You feel lighter, more positive, and more alive.

And this happens while you may even reduce your medication dose โ€” further helping your liver.

The vicious cycle becomes a positive cycle:

  • The liver detoxifies and gets stronger

  • T4 converts better

  • You feel more energetic

  • Medication dose can be reduced

  • Liver is relieved further

  • Conversion improves again

  • Hair and energy improve even more

  • โ€ฆand so on.

So how do you fix a conversion disorder?

According to Dr. Mitchell, it's actually quite straightforward.

You only need to do two things:

  1. Actively regenerate your liver

  2. Supply your body with the nutrients required for thyroid hormone conversion

Dr. Mitchell spoke of a method he had already used with countless patients.

A method that targets the root cause of the disorder.

Here is the simplified explanation:

The Liverโ€“T3 Method

You remember the 3-step thyroid activation system?

Step 1: Production of T4

Step 2: Conversion of T4 to T3

Step 3: Transport of T3 to the cells

According to Dr. Mitchell, the most important step at the beginning is to heal the conversion disorder โ€“ that is, Step 2.

Because stimulating the body's own production of T4 (Step 1) is anything but simple and can take a very long time.

Besides, I was already diligently taking T4.

Insufficient T4 wasn't the problem โ€“ the conversion was.

And Step 3 (transport to the cells) is not a problem for most people once Step 2 has been resolved.

Step 2 (conversion of the hormones) is also the fastest path to feeling better within days.

Because most people are already taking T4.

Healing the conversion disorder is like suddenly releasing a handbrake:

The thyroxine (T4) you are taking is converted more effectively.

You immediately feel more vital and less tired.

This means I need to take less thyroxine, and can therefore reduce my dose step by step.

This leads to my liver being less burdened, which in turn allows the conversion of hormones to work even better.

Dr. Mitchell's Liver-T3 Method was developed specifically for people with an underactive thyroid.

But it also works even if you no longer have a thyroid gland, or if you have Hashimoto's disease!

Because especially in those cases, it is all the more important to strengthen the conversion of the thyroid hormones you are taking.

If you have very little thyroid tissue remaining, or no thyroid gland at all, you won't be able to avoid synthetic hormones such as L-thyroxine.

With Step 1 (the body's own production of thyroid hormones), there isn't much that can be done in that situation.

But by focusing on Step 2 (conversion of the hormones), you can release the handbrake here too and immediately feel much better.

Dr. Mitchell's method is very simple and is based on supplying the body in a targeted way with the vitamins and nutrients that are particularly important for the conversion of thyroid hormones.

These are simultaneously the nutrients that are often deficient in people with an underactive thyroid, because the body uses too much of them.

What makes it special: the method is based 100% on natural ingredients.

It is not an expensive treatment involving any kind of medications.

The method is divided into two simple steps:

Step 1: Actively regenerate the liver

The liver is chronically exhausted โ€” as we know โ€” because it is constantly dealing with removing toxins and waste substances.

And because of that, it can no longer properly fulfil one of its other crucial tasks: converting T4 into T3.

It is widely known that an overworked liver often leads to fatigue.

The good news: the liver is the only organ in the human body that can fully regenerate.

Even better news: according to Dr Collins, modern science has already identified several plant compounds which, according to studies, can actively regenerate the liver.

Because that is exactly whatโ€™s required: dietary changes alone are not enough.

You must actively regenerate the liver.

Dr. Mitchell recommends the following plant compounds for this:

Milk Thistle

Milk thistle is a true powerhouse when it comes to liver health.

It is one of the most antioxidant-rich medicinal plants.

This means it neutralises free radicals and reduces oxidative stress.

Milk thistle is now very well researched in relation to liver function.

One study from Italy is particularly noteworthy (2):

From these findings, the following conclusions were drawn:

  • Milk thistle neutralises toxins and waste products in the liverโ€™s veins

  • It prevents toxins from entering the liver cells

  • It promotes liver regeneration and the formation of new, healthy liver cells

  • It improves bile production in the liver and helps clear the bile ducts

  • It supports the liverโ€™s detoxification ability, especially when combined with artichoke

Which brings us to the second plant:

Artichoke

The most impressive evidence comes from a study attributing a hepatoprotective effect to artichoke leaf extract (3):

This means that artichoke protects liver cells and stimulates regeneration.

Anthony William, in his book โ€œHeal Your Thyroidโ€, even goes a step further.

He explains that artichokes contain many yet-undiscovered compounds that specifically support the thyroid.

These compounds โ€” especially the plant-based nutrients in the artichoke leaves โ€” are said to help reduce nodules, tumours and cysts in the thyroid.

With these two herbal plants โ€” milk thistle and artichoke โ€” the liver is protected and strengthened in its function.

Almost at the push of a button.

Then it becomes clear:

A healthy, energised liver makes for an energised person.

Step 2: Micronutrients for conversion

There are two key nutrients that play a direct role in converting T4 into T3 inside the liver: selenium and glutathione.

Selenium

I have already written a lot about selenium.

Selenium is directly involved in hormone conversion in the liver โ€” because the enzymes that convert T4 to T3 are made from selenium.

But selenium can do even more.

As a co-factor, it also plays a role in the production of thyroid hormones.

Selenium is an absolute must for anyone with an underactive thyroid.

Glutathione

Glutathione is the most abundant and a very potent antioxidant in the body.

In its active form, it has the ability to neutralise free radicals.

Normally, glutathione captures these free radicals and thus protects our cells.

However, if there are too many free radicals, the glutathione is depleted.

In technical terms, the glutathione is said to be "oxidised" (used up).

Once it is depleted, it can no longer help, and the cells and their energy centres can be more easily damaged.

And indeed, studies show that, for example, people with Hashimoto's disease have less than half as much serum glutathione (GSH) as healthy control subjects (4).

Yes, you read that correctly:

Less than half the glutathione!

This is why it is so important to supply glutathione to restore the balance between oxidative stress and antioxidants.

No doctor ever mentioned glutathione to me โ€” even though the research is crystal clear.

But thatโ€™s not all:

Glutathione, alongside selenium, directly influences the conversion of T4 to T3.

This was shown in the following study:

Researchers found that people with impaired conversion almost always had low glutathione levels (5).

Glutathione is therefore a crucial nutrient that most people lack for optimal hormone conversion.

It is also one of the blood values that most doctors overlook and rarely test.

The result of all these nutrients?

Your liver can finally function at full capacity again.

T4 is converted into T3, your metabolism picks up speed.

And symptoms such as hair loss, fatigue or brittle nails can finally improve.

I know โ€” that was a lot of information at once.

Which is why Iโ€™ve summarised the key points in the following graphic.

Now you're probably wondering: "How many artichokes do I need to eat per day?"

That's exactly what was going through my head.

I can give you the answer: you would have to eat dozens of artichokes to get enough of the active ingredient in the artichoke.

The same applies to milk thistle.

And glutathione is a completely different topic โ€“ you can't just get that in every chemist.

After a very long period of research, however, I found a solution that every person with hypothyroidism needs to know about.

Full focus on the thyroid gland

All the topics I have covered so far in this article can be discovered through your own research.

Thyroid health is well researched โ€“ the problem is simply that hardly anyone goes deep enough to truly help people.

Most supplement manufacturers, for example, have thyroid complexes in their range, but anyone who really understands the subject will quickly realise: it's just a money-making exercise.

When you look at the ingredients of these complexes, you quickly become disappointed.

These manufacturers simply mix together everything that is popularly believed to be good for the thyroid.

A bit of selenium here, a bit of iodine there, and perhaps some tyrosine thrown in for good measure.

That may be somewhat beneficial for the thyroid โ€“ but unfortunately, you won't feel any better for it.

After months of research and collaboration with Dr. Mitchell, it became clear to me:

Thyroid health is neglected as an afterthought.

Both by most GPs, and by most supplement manufacturers.

There is, however, reason for hope.

A few months ago, I came across a company that specialises exclusively in producing supplements for people with thyroid problems.

The company is called ThyroT3โ„ข and is based in Australia.

Their approach is to combine the power of nature with the latest insights from science.

Based on all the research findings that I have also presented in this article, they developed a product called ThyroT3โ„ข.

When you look at the ingredients, you can immediately tell: the people behind ThyroT3โ„ข have thoroughly understood the processes within the body and have studied many current studies.

I showed the product to Dr. Mitchell, and patients at his clinic are now taking it regularly.

But what exactly is in ThyroT3โ„ข and why?

ThyroT3โ„ข in detail

You can tell from the name: the product was made to support the conversion of thyroid hormones.

It is essentially a highly effective liver complex, supplemented with those nutrients that are particularly important for the conversion of thyroid hormones.

As a result, there is no comparable product available in Australia.

Here are the ingredients and the reasoning behind them:

Glutathione:

ThyroT3โ„ข contains reduced glutathione (the active form).

Why glutathione is so essential for thyroid hormone conversion, I have already explained.

Only with enough glutathione can you keep oxidative stress under control and support your body in converting and transporting thyroid hormones.

What makes ThyroT3โ„ข special: it also contains the amino acids that form the precursors of glutathione.

This is intended to stimulate your own glutathione production โ€“ because whatever the body can produce itself is far better utilised.

Glutathione is made from the amino acids glutamine, glycine, and cysteine.

Studies show that cysteine is the limiting factor for most people.

That is why ThyroT3โ„ข not only contains glutathione and cysteine in high doses but also the precursors of cysteine: NAC (N-acetyl-cysteine) and L-methionine.

Interestingly, methionine is also believed to help with hair loss!

Milk Thistle, Artichoke, and Dandelion

Iโ€™ve already written quite a bit about the first two ingredients.

Milk thistle is the ultimate secret weapon for healing the liver within weeks.

Dr. Mitchell also relies on artichoke and milk thistle with his patients when it comes to detoxifying the liver and lowering cholesterol levels.

Dandelion root has similar benefits for liver health.

All three plant extracts are contained in ThyroT3โ„ข in meaningful dosages.

Choline has also been added to support liver function even further.

Selenium and Coenzyme Q10

Selenium is included in ThyroT3โ„ข as well.

As I explained earlier, Australia has areas with selenium-poor soil โ€“ making selenium supplementation particularly useful.

Selenium plays a central role in converting thyroid hormones because it protects against oxidative stress and forms part of the deiodinase enzyme responsible for the conversion. (6)

It is also required as a cofactor in producing thyroid hormones.

Coenzyme Q10 is included because it is essential for cellular energy production and therefore helps against fatigue.

There are also studies showing that statins (cholesterol-lowering medications) reduce the bodyโ€™s supply of CoQ10 (12).

If you take statins (as I used to), the CoQ10 in ThyroT3โ„ข is a useful bonus.

When I looked at the ingredients and their dosages, everything finally made sense, and I wanted to give it a chance.

The fact that they go the extra mile โ€” not only adding glutathione, but also its precursor (L-cysteine) and even the pre-precursors (L-methionine and NAC) โ€” clearly shows how well-designed the formula is.

By then I was very deeply involved in the subject โ€“ and I had Dr. Mitchell, whose advice I could rely on.

Still, I thought: It sounds almost too good to be true.

Because I had struggled for years.

My hair continued falling out and my body didnโ€™t feel like my own anymore.

It had all changed gradually โ€” but looking back, I saw a woman in the mirror I barely recognised.

Tired. Drained. Empty inside.

Deep down, a spark kept telling me: There must be a solution. Something must help.

When I then learned more about ThyroT3โ„ข, I found testimonials.

Not polished five-star marketing comments.

But real voices on Facebook:

After reading those comments, I ordered a three-pack of ThyroT3โ„ข that same evening.

I knew: if it had helped so many others, it would help me too.

My first weeks with ThyroT3โ„ข

Two days after placing the order, ThyroT3โ„ข arrived.

Each jar contains 60 capsules.

The daily dose is 2 capsules per day.

Itโ€™s recommended to take the capsules after your second meal of the day, either at lunchtime or in the afternoon.

You should continue taking your thyroid medication exactly as before.

Since ThyroT3โ„ข contains only natural ingredients, it is completely safe and can be taken without concern.

You really canโ€™t go wrong!

One jar lasts 30 days, so I was stocked for three months.

Iโ€™d recommend the same to you: this is a marathon, not a sprint.

You should give ThyroT3โ„ข at least 3 months.

At first glance, the packaging looks very premium.

Itโ€™s not a cheap pouch or plastic tub, but a small, high-quality glass jar.

I loved the little label on the jar that said: โ€œDeveloped for your thyroidโ€.

The capsules are also easy to swallow.

From then on, I took 2 capsules daily.

I continued taking my levothyroxine tablets as usual.

I hoped ThyroT3โ„ข would help me regain fuller, healthier hair.

So I could feel like myself again and enjoy taking photos.

And what can I sayโ€ฆ

I never expected things to change so quickly.

But after just one week, I felt exactly what so many women had described in their reviews.

Suddenly I had energy, and I could concentrate so much better โ€“ for the first time in years I didnโ€™t feel like an empty battery, but like someone finally recharging.

And the hair loss?

Five months later: I finally enjoy taking photos again

When I started ThyroT3โ„ข, I had hope โ€“ but also doubt.

Today, five months later, Iโ€™ve regained something I hadnโ€™t had in years: my confidence.

My hair has visibly thickened.

Itโ€™s as if my body finally received what it had been missing.

And the crazy thing? It was never โ€œjust the thyroidโ€.

It was the liver support Iโ€™d been missing.

And my blood tests confirm it:

My thyroid levels have improved massively โ€“ and that is a huge success for me.

Not only T4, but especially active T3 is finally where it should be.

Together with my GP, Iโ€™ve begun slowly reducing my levothyroxine dose โ€“ Iโ€™m now down to just 50 micrograms.

And surprisingly: even with the reduced dose, I feel better and better.

My TSH is now at 1.5.

My free T4 is stable in the healthy range.

And for the first time in years, my free T3 is finally normal!

Out of curiosity, I also had my liver values checked โ€“ after all, milk thistle and artichoke work directly on the liver.

And indeed: my cholesterol and liver values improved too.

For me, the proof:

The body begins to regulate itself when you finally give it the right tools.

These are my current blood results

Iโ€™m genuinely curious to see what my levels will look like in a year.

Especially because so many symptoms are linked to the thyroid.

It sounds unbelievable, but it makes total sense.

Because almost all symptoms stem from a lack of thyroid hormones.

Nearly all symptoms share the same cause.

So if you fix the issue of converting T4 into T3, the symptoms disappear.

Because your cells finally receive the vital T3 theyโ€™ve been waiting for.

Dr. Mitchell explained it to me like this:

๐Ÿšจ Too little energy (T3) for your liver = high cholesterol levels because cholesterol breakdown in the liver no longer functions properly

๐Ÿšจ Too little T3 = slow metabolism, making it almost impossible to manage your weight

๐Ÿšจ Too little T3 for your gut = digestive issues because your gut is no longer properly supplied with blood

๐Ÿšจ Too little T3 = constantly cold hands & feet because your body has reduced circulation

๐Ÿšจ Too little T3 = higher risk of developing diabetes because, with a lack of T3, the gene expression for the glucose transport protein decreases. The result: blood sugar rises more quickly

๐Ÿšจ Too little T3 = the receptor for the sleep hormone melatonin becomes downregulated, making good sleep more difficult

๐Ÿšจ Too little T3 = the receptor for the happiness hormone serotonin becomes downregulated. A lack of T3 can therefore lead to depression.

๐Ÿšจ Too little T3 = the luteinising hormone (LH), which stimulates ovulation, becomes downregulated. This is why a T3 deficiency can also be a cause of infertility.

๐Ÿšจ Too little T3 = calcitonin, the hormone that governs calcium storage in the bones, becomes downregulated. A lack of T3 therefore causes bone loss (osteoporosis)

And when you understand all this โ€“ it suddenly becomes clear why so many people with an underactive thyroid donโ€™t just have one symptom.

Do you know anyone who is โ€œjustโ€ tired?

Or โ€œjustโ€ struggling with hair loss?

Probably not.

Most people affected struggle with a whole wave of symptoms at the same time:

  • Hair loss (most people don't know why)

  • Weight gain despite dieting

  • Persistent fatigue, even after sleeping

  • Sleep disturbances that make no sense

  • Muscle and joint pain without a clear cause

  • Water retention, concentration problems, low moodsโ€ฆ

And even if youโ€™ve lived with this for years, even if you think โ€œMaybe Iโ€™m just like thisโ€ โ€“ ThyroT3โ„ข can change that.

It ensures your body finally gets what it needs.

And the best part:

People around you notice it too.

They see that youโ€™re glowing again. That youโ€™re yourself again.

And you know whatโ€™s crazy?

This transformation, this new feeling of life โ€“ costs less than a cup of coffee a day.

Our magazine has secured an exclusive offer with the manufacturer.

If you order several jars at once, you benefit from generous bulk discounts.

With a 3-pack, the cost is AUD $1.11 per day โ€“ for a unique liver-support complex that doesnโ€™t exist anywhere else.

Because ThyroT3โ„ข contains 11 perfectly matched nutrients, in exactly the dosage your body can truly use โ€“ not too little, not too much.

If you bought all these ingredients individually, you would pay over AUD $6 per day โ€“ more than five times as much.

And AUD $1.11 per day?

That corresponds to around 3 minutes of work for the average person in Australia.

3 minutes of work for a life without constant exhaustion.

For healthy and fuller hair.

For more energy.

For better sleep.

For a normal weight โ€“ without constantly restricting yourself.

For a life that finally feels like itโ€™s yours again.

Honestly:

What would that be worth to you?

But one more thing before you go:

Because demand for ThyroT3โ„ข has surged massively in recent weeks, thereโ€™s a real chance it may sell out again soon.

So if you want to try it, donโ€™t wait too long.

What I like about ThyroT3โ„ข:

1. It addresses the problem where medications reach their limits: the conversion and activation of hormones.

2. Manufactured in Australia and regularly laboratory tested.

3. Contains 11 nutrients. This means I can save myself the cost of other supplements.

4. The product's effectiveness was confirmed by my blood tests!

What I like less:

1. Unfortunately, private health insurance does not cover any costs.

2. The product is only available online and not (yet) at my local chemist.

3. It's relatively expensive, but you can save a lot if you buy in bulk. You should give it a three-month trial anyway.

Addendum:

Since I published this article, many of you have asked questions. Therefore, I wanted to briefly address the most important ones:

Who is ThyroT3โ„ข best suited for?

If one or more of these points apply to you, ThyroT3โ„ข will most likely help you:

  • You are already taking thyroid medication, but you are not feeling any improvement.

  • Your fT4 level is okay, but your fT3 level is very low.

  • Your rT3 is very high.

  • You have a fatty liver or a very weak liver. Signs of this can include: pressure in the upper abdomen, frequent urination at night, yellowing of the eyes, stool or urine, bloating and gas, and loss of appetite.

  • You have high cholesterol and/or triglyceride levels.

  • You have little or no thyroid tissue left and are dependent on taking thyroid medication.

Can I take ThyroT3โ„ข even if I no longer have a thyroid gland?

Yes, absolutely. ThyroT3โ„ข contains only natural ingredients. Especially if you no longer have a thyroid gland, it's all the more important that the ingested T4 can be converted more efficiently.

Can I also use ThyroT3โ„ข if I have Hashimoto's disease?

Yes, even then it makes sense to support your body in converting thyroid hormones. People with Hashimoto's are even more likely to struggle with chronic inflammation and oxidative stress.

How can ThyroT3โ„ข help with weight loss?

Quite simply: weight problems are usually due to a slow metabolism.

The metabolic problems, in turn, are related โ€“ just like most other symptoms โ€“ to the fact that too few active thyroid hormones reach the body's cells.

By improving the conversion of T4 to T3, your metabolism will also improve.

Should I continue taking my thyroid medication alongside ThyroT3โ„ข?

Yes, you should continue taking your thyroid medication as usual. ThyroT3โ„ข is designed to complement your existing treatment, not replace it.

What is the best way to take ThyroT3โ„ข?

I recommend taking 2 capsules with a glass of water after the second meal of the day.

How does ThyroT3โ„ข differ from essential amino acid products?

Essential amino acids are very important for Hashimoto's disease, but they don't go far enough. For example, amino acids alone have no effect on the liver. ThyroT3โ„ข also contains essential and semi-essential amino acids โ€“ specifically those necessary for the production of glutathione (and thus for the conversion of thyroid hormones). Furthermore, ThyroT3โ„ข also boasts highly effective ingredients for liver health โ€“ namely milk thistle, artichoke, dandelion root, and choline.

How long does it take for ThyroT3โ„ข to take effect?

Most customers report a noticeable improvement within just 7 days. ThyroT3โ„ข reaches its full effect after about 7 days of consistent use. We should allow the body this much time.

How long will one pack last?

One pack contains 60 capsules and is therefore sufficient for exactly 30 days.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes, the manufacturer offers a 30-day money-back guarantee. Feel free to try the product risk-free โ€“ if you're not 100% convinced of its effectiveness, simply contact customer support.

Is the manufacturer reputable?

This question comes up frequently. I can say that the delivery was very fast and the customer service was very friendly. There are also verified customer reviews on the product page.

In addition, the team behind ThyroT3โ„ข regularly organises Q&A sessions on the topic of hypothyroidism with various experts.

Overall, the company makes a very reputable impression on me.
